Privacy Policy

Zoey (“Zoey,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the family-calendar service at textzoey.ai. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Zoey, you agree to this policy.

The short version: Zoey only accesses the calendars you explicitly connect. Zoey never reads your email inbox or your private messages. We don't sell your data, we don't use it for advertising, and we don't use it to train AI models.

Information we collect

Account information. When you sign up, we collect your email address and an authentication identifier (via Google sign-in, a magic link, or email and password).
Family profile information you provide. Names, roles, and optional details such as date of birth, sex, avatar color, and phone numbers for the family members you add.
Google Calendar data (with your permission). If you connect Google, we request the calendar.readonly and calendar.events scopes so we can list the calendars you choose to watch, read their events to build your family agenda, and create the events you confirm. We only access the calendars you select.
Calendar feeds you add. If you paste an iCal/ICS feed link (e.g., a sports or school calendar), we fetch and read its events.
Text messages. The content of SMS messages you send to Zoey's phone number (so we can create the events you describe) and your replies confirming events, plus related delivery metadata.
Technical data. Standard logs and device/browser information used to operate and secure the service.

What we never access

Zoey does not read your email inbox, your private text-message threads, or any Google data beyond the calendars you connect. There is no email scanning or inbox forwarding, ever.

How we use information

To show your family's events in one unified, color-coded calendar.
To detect new events on the calendars you watch and text you so you can add them.
To create events you confirm and write them to the calendar you choose.
To send the SMS notifications and confirmations that are core to the service.
To operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve Zoey.

Google user data — Limited Use

Zoey's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:

We use Google Calendar data only to provide and improve the user-facing features described in this policy.
We do not use Google user data for advertising.
We do not sell Google user data, and we do not transfer it to others except as needed to provide the service, to comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger or acquisition with appropriate notice.
We do not allow humans to read your Google data, except with your explicit consent, as necessary for security or to comply with law, or where the data has been aggregated and anonymized.
We do not use Google user data to develop, improve, or train generalized or non-personalized AI and/or machine-learning models.
We do not transfer Google user data to third-party AI or machine-learning services. Google Calendar data is never sent to our AI provider.

The use of raw or derived user data received from Google Workspace APIs will adhere to the Google User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

AI processing

When you text Zoey to create an event (or send it a photo of a schedule), the content of that message or image — along with your family members' names and your timezone — is processed by our AI provider (Anthropic) solely to interpret your request and turn it into calendar events. This processing exists only to deliver the feature you asked for.

Google Calendar data is never sent to our AI provider. Event detection on the calendars you watch is performed by our own systems, not by AI models.
Data processed by our AI provider is not used to train AI models. Anthropic does not train its models on data submitted through its API.
We do not use any of your data — from Google or otherwise — to develop, improve, or train generalized AI or machine-learning models.

Service providers

We share information with vendors who process it only to help us run Zoey, under confidentiality obligations:

Google — calendar access you connect.
Twilio — sending and receiving SMS.
Anthropic — AI interpretation of text you send.
Supabase — database and authentication.
Vercel — application hosting.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your information while your account is active. You are in control:

Disconnect Google at any time in Zoey, which removes our stored access tokens. You can also revoke Zoey's access directly at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Delete individual family members or events from within the app.
Delete your account and all associated data by contacting us at support@textzoey.ai. We will delete it within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Security

We protect your data with encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, access controls, and per-household data isolation so that one family's information is not accessible to another. Google access tokens are stored server-side and are never exposed to your browser or to other users. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

Children's privacy

Zoey is intended for use by parents and guardians to organize their household, which may include information about their children. It is not directed to children for their own independent use, and we do not knowingly allow children under 13 to create their own accounts. The adult account holder is responsible for any family-member information they choose to add.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@textzoey.ai.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you.
